Ida Reed, 109, of Overland Park, KS, passed away January 24, 2010 at Village Shalom. Funeral services 12:30pm Wednesday, January 27, at The Louis Memorial Chapel. Burial at Sheffield Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to The General Fund at Village Shalom, Grace Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice. Mrs. Reed was born in Russia in 1900. She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1912. They made their way to the Midwest where she and her husband owned a grocery store in Kansas City. They moved to Nevada, MO from 1931 to 1946 where they owned a clothing store until their move to Kansas City in 1949. She was a former member of Beth Shalom
Synagogue and Pioneer Women. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years: Louis Hankin; brothers: Abe Roven and Charles Rubins; sister: Marsha Carr; son: Richard Hankin. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law: Marvin and Irit Hankin, Jerusalem, Israel; daughter-in-law: Harriet Hankin, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren and their spouses: Larry and Gail Hankin, Steven and Joelle Hankin, Susan Donaldson, Vered and Jeremy Kaufman, Abigail and Stan Wei, Jonathan and Denise Hankin, Liat Hankin, Adva Hankin, Aviel Hankin, Gilad Hankin; 7 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren
and many nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank the staffs of Village Shalom and Grace Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
