Betty Marie Lesky

March 2, 1925 - March 2, 2022

Betty Marie Lesky of Leawood, Kansas, died March 2, 2022, on the morning of her 97th birthday. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 4, at Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. To attend via Zoom please email [email protected] for link and passcode. Burial will follow at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery, 1901 Blue Ridge Blvd., Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Kehilath Israel Synagogue or organizations providing relief efforts for the crisis in Ukraine. Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt and great-aunt was our everything. Our north, our south, our east and west. How far she stretched across our lives. Each of us will forever remember the stories she told about growing up in Kansas City in the twenties and thirties, the uniquely warm and welcoming smile that she reserved for those closest to her, and the unqualified love she gave us that could never fade or dim. Along with her husband, the late Lou Lesky, she organized and threw more parties than Jay Gatsby. She was never without a menu list in hand, or for that matter, a word puzzle, a novel, or a Royals schedule. No matter the date on the calendar, spring arrived on the day that pitchers and catchers reported and didn’t end until the last baseball was thrown in October. She loved it all. But most of all she loved her husband and her family. We were her orbit, and she our North Star. Born on March 2, 1925, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late David and Rose Pfeffer, Betty met Lou on a blind date after the war. The two were devoted and delighted married partners for 65 years. They were inseparable and never happier than when they were together with their family. Our hearts are broken that they are gone. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Irving Greenberg, and her son-in-law Donald Page. She is survived by son Rich Lesky of Plano, TX; daughter Jody Lesky of Overland Park, KS; daughter Linda Lesky of Washington, DC; son Steve Lesky (Claire Cortner) of Berkeley, CA; granddaughter Kim Page of Overland Park, KS; granddaughter Molly Quenzer (Shawn Quenzer) and great-grandsons Xander and Jaxon Quenzer, all of Olathe, KS.
