David Brian Gerson

December 16, 1964 - March 24, 2021

David Gerson, of Kansas City, Missouri, lost his year-long battle with leukemia on March 24, 2021. He passed at home surrounded by his loving family. David was born December 16, 1964 to Kurt and Barbara Gerson. He attended Shawnee Mission East High School and Ohio University, then later obtained his master’s in social work from the University of Kansas. He spent his life caring for others as a social worker, philanthropist, volunteer, husband, and father. He started his career in the family business and developed into a skilled entrepreneur and compassionate social worker. He lived life to the fullest through his love for music, theater, art, travel, nature, good food, good friends, and, of course, his family. Throughout his life, he exemplified the values of his Jewish faith and worked hard to pass on those values to his children. David is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Christine Holland-Gerson of the home, his son, Levi (Emily) Gerson of Denver, Colorado, his daughter, Tess Gerson of Chicago, Illinois, his sisters, Debbie (Kerry) Lindenbaum of Leawood, Kansas, and Linda Gerson of Santa Cruz, California, as well as his nephew Alex Potvin of Denver, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents. David’s love and generous spirit touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by countless friends and family.
