Evelyn B. Marks, 95, the last of her generation, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Village Shalom. Graveside services will be at 11:15am Sunday, March 28, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Beth Shalom Synagogue, Hadassah, Village Shalom or a charity of one’s choice. Evelyn Belle Marks, a lifelong resident of Kansas City was born March 6, 1915. She was the daughter of Abraham Nathan Marks and Jennie Gordon Marks and the last of her siblings, Harriet Marks, Marie Marks Singer, Dr. Bernard Marks, Besse Marks, Harold Marks and Ruth Marks Dennis to survive, thus ending a generation of Marks in Kansas City. She is survived by eight nieces and nephews, Dr. Edward A. Dennis of La Jolla, CA, Harriet Dorf of Milwaukee, WI, Ruth Glickman of Orlando, FL, Golda Kagan of Boston, MA, Leonard Marks of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Marks of Kansas City, KS and Esther Schleifer of Boston, MA as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews. One niece, Golda Rosen of Kansas City, MO predeceased her. Miss Marks spent her 32 year career as the bookkeeper for Wayne Paper Co. on Southwest Blvd., from which she retired in 1980, and she lived at Village Shalom since 2004. She was a lifelong member of Congregation Beth Shalom, its sisterhood and Hadassah.
