Frances Lee Weinstein, 79, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Grace Gardens Retirement Community in Leawood, Kansas. Family and friends may honor Frances’ memory at a funeral service to be held at the Louis Memorial Chapel at 6830 Troost Avenue on Monday March 14 at 2:00 pm., followed by burial at Sheffield Cemetery at 6200 Wilson Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frances’ name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – Heart of America Chapter at 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208. Frances was born December 7, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Raymond Wolf and Betty Wolf. She lived most of her life in Overland Park, where she and her late husband Jack Martin Weinstein raised their three children, son Larry Weinstein (wife Debi) of Overland Park, Kansas, Marcie Weinstein (husband Michael Mauro) of Baltimore, Maryland, and Leslie Elkins (partner Patty Kilkenny) of Lawrence Kansas. Frances is also survived by five grandchildren - Jack, Kyle and Kendra Weinstein, and Rachel and Jana Mauro, her dear sister Beverly DeLeve and brother Marvin Wolf, as well as many other relatives and friends. Frances began her career working in a department store. After taking time off to raise her kids she returned to work as a bookkeeper for a jewelry company and in later years worked for the IRS, from which she retired in 2008. Her family will remember her for her chocolate-chip cookies and twice baked potatoes, working crossword puzzles, reading romance novels, playing bridge, poker and Mah-Jongg, and her dry sense of humor. We will miss her terribly; may she rest in peace.
