Harry Fleitman, 89, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Friday, August 19, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO. Burial to follow at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. The family suggests contributions to Kehilath Israel Synagogue or to a charity of one’s choice. Mr. Fleitman was born in Kansas City, MO, the son of Max and Annie (Perlman) Fleitman, and was a lifelong area resident. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corp where he was an instructor for new cadets on airplane engines. Mr. Fleitman was a transmission mechanic at Don Stein Buick for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was a longtime member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and its Men’s Club and was a member of the ROMEOS, B’nai B’rith, AMIT and the Jewish Community Center. Mr. Fleitman was an accomplished person with many talents and he could fix anything. He was knowledgeable about plumbing, electric, and anything mechanical. Family and the Jewish Community were very important to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Eleanor Bronstein and Minnie Meshulam. Mr. Fleitman is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Fleitman, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law: Bernard and Judith Fleitman, Princeton, NJ; Marshall Fleitman and Tung Hsiu Chang, San Francisco, CA; daughter and son-in-law: Sharon Fleitman and Dr. Eric Solomon, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Rachel Fleitman, Adina Solomon, Ari Solomon, Yonah Solomon, Shira Solomon, Jessica Fleitman and Dana Fleitman. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. The family would like to thank Pam Wilson, Doris Gilgus, Marilyn and Jacob Schulzinger, Larry and Sandra Jabenis and Dr. John Goldberg for all their care and support.
