Helen Loeffler Obituary (2008)

Helen Loeffler, 94, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at The Manor at Grace Gardens. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm, Thursday February 28 at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers; the family suggests contributions to AMIT Women, Kansas City Hospice and Beth Shalom Synagogue. Mrs. Loeffler owned and operated with her family Loeffler’s Fine Foods for over 25 years and then Kansas City Furniture Mart, a retail furniture store for 12 years. Mrs. Loeffler was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue and a former member of Ohev Sholom, AMIT Women, B’nai B’rith, Jewish Federation, the United Jewish Congress and Hadassah. Mrs. Loeffler was a long time supporter of AMIT Women and was its Woman of Valor Honoree in 2004. Mrs. Loeffler was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Adolph, in 1976. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Julie and Dean Long, Kansas City, MO, Andrea and Ronald Goldberg, Leawood, KS; brother and sister-in-law: Dr. Edward and Bernice Zigler, New Haven , CT; sisters and brother-in-law: Sophie Berlin, Los Angeles, CA, Maurine and Samuel Agron, Leawood, KS; sister-in-law: Mrs. Dorothy Loeffler; granddaughter: Amy Lynne Limmer and her husband Adam; granddaughter: Cara Leigh Goldberg, all of Temecula, CA; nieces and nephews and their spouses: Harold and Joyce Koch, Lori and Steve Greenberg, Gerri Lyn and Byron Ginsburg, Mark and Karen Manfield, Deanne and Dr. Harvey Gilbert, Scott and Korin Zigler, Debbie and Dennis Kaufman and Alan Loeffler. Numerous cousins also survive. Mrs. Loeffler was the matriarch and leader of her family, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. The family wishes to thank her many caregivers at Grace Gardens, Kansas City Hospice and her special friend and caregiver, Mary Pat Medina.
