Ida Mae Koffman passed away on September 3, 2016 at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Monday, September 5, 2016 at The Louis Memorial chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Ida Mae was born December 7, 1918, the daughter of the late Sonia and Nyman Geister and niece of the late Dora and Morris Feder, all of Kansas City. Her family doctor nick- named her “Fluzy” because she was born during the 1918 flu epidemic. She attended Horace Mann, Westport Junior High and Westport High School. Ida Mae loved people and loved retail sales. Following high school, she worked for Lerner-Vogue. Subsequently, she sold lingerie, gloves, purses and swimming suits at John Taylor. She met and married Abe Koffman and became a homemaker. A few years after Abe’s death, she married neighbor William Finkelston. Ida Mae belonged to Congregation Beth Shalom and The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. The family is deeply grateful to Dr. Mark Davidner and Dr. Sharon Snavely for their exceptional and loving care. Special thanks also to the caring staff at Delmar Gardens and to Kansas City Hospice. The visits by Kathy Keller, JFS volunteer, and Cantor Sharon Kohn of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah brightened her days. In addition to her parents, aunt, uncle and husbands, Ida Mae is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Russ Rauscher. She is survived by her daughter: Nyda Rauscher Tilzer, Deerfield, IL; son-in-law: Jerome Tilzer, Leawood, KS; son: Hal Koffman, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Wendi (Mike) Weinstein, Vernon Hills, IL and Scott (Magda) Rauscher, Glencoe, IL; great-grandchildren: Ryan, Maya and Emily Weinstein and Owen and Rhys Rauscher. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and special friends. Ida Mae, our mother, grandmother, “GG” and friend will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion and loving spirit.
