Jack N. Bohm Obituary (2008)

Jack N. Bohm, 84, of Leawood, KS, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Menorah Medical Center. Funeral services will be 12 noon, Monday, October 6, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Burial at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers; the family suggests contributions to Beth Shalom Synagogue. Jack practiced law for more than 50 years until his retirement in 1999. He received his J.D. from Washington University in 1948. Jack was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue, a life member of its Board of Directors and past president of its Men’s Club. He was also a member of B’nai B’rith Supreme Lodge Board of Governors and past president of both B’nai B’rith Kansas City Lodge #184 and District Grand Lodge #2. Jack served on the Boards of the Jewish Federation, Anti-Defamation League, American Jewish Committee and Jewish Geriatric Center; and he co-chaired the National Conference of Christians and Jews. He was also Chairman of the Commercial Law Committee of the Missouri Bar Association. Jack is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World and in the American Law World Jewry. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and retired at the rank of Brigadier General in the U.S. Army Reserves. s Brigadier General, he served as Chief Judge of the U.S. Army Court of Military Review and Commander of the Army Legal Services Agency. He was President of the Missouri State Reserve Officers’ Association. Among his numerous awards, Jack received the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit. Jack was preceded in death by his brothers Albert, Sam, Milford and Irvine Bohm and his sisters Lillian Strauss and Ruth Strifling. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Liz Bohm; sons and daughters-in-law Bob Bohm and Linda Taconis, Orlando, FL and Rick and Lori Bohm, Hastings on Hudson, NY; daughter and son-in-law Lorie and Will Klumb, Englewood, CO; grandchildren Lisa and Traci Klumb and Allie and Daniel Bohm; and sisters-in-law Sally Bohm, Sarah Bohm, Lee Bohm, Hannah Strauss and Blanch Tannenbaum.
