JACOB LOUIS LESKY Obituary (1922 - 2015)

Jacob Louis Lesky, 93, of Leawood, Kansas, died December 19, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, at Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial will follow at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery, 1901 Blue Ridge Blvd., Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Kehilath Israel Synagogue or the Alzheimer’s Association. Our husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and uncle lived a long and rich life. He dearly loved his wife, family, Jewish faith, synagogue, work, and the simple beauty of the everyday. An afternoon spent working with his hands on a new gadget was a wonderful afternoon indeed. A family meal shared together – all of us laughing, joking, telling stories about old times in the Lesky household – nothing made him happier. Lou was born April 25, 1922, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Ben and Sarah Lesky. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, and spent most of his work life at Kansas City Custom Garment Company and Ellemby, Ltd. He met the love of his life, Betty Marie Pfeffer, on a blind date after the war and they married their fortunes together for 65 years. Their four children will be forever grateful for the loving home their father and mother created. Lou was preceded in death by his parents and sisters and brothers-in-law: Ruth and Ben Planzer and Rose and Sol Stolowy as well as son-in-law Donald Page. He is survived by his wife Betty Lesky and his children and grandchildren: son Rich Lesky of Plano, TX; daughter Jody Lesky of Overland Park, KS; daughter Linda Lesky of Washington, DC; son Steve Lesky (Claire Cortner) of Berkeley, CA; granddaughter Kim Page of Overland Park, KS; granddaughter Molly Quenzer (Shawn Quenzer) and step great-grandson Xander Quenzer, all of Olathe, KS.
