Jacqueline (Jackie) Firestone passed away at home on Friday, March 30, 2018. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at The Louis Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Sheffield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Congregation Ohev Sholom, located at 5311 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208 or Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research/Parkinson’s Disease, www.michaeljfox.org. Jackie was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on January 8, 1926 to Joseph and Lillian (Ginsburg) Max. She attended the public schools in Wichita Falls, Texas, achieving the honor of National Honor Society in 1941, and graduating May, 1942 from Wichita Falls Senior High School. Before moving to Kansas City in August, 1944 with her family, Jackie worked at Zales’ Jewelers from 1942-1944. After the move to Kansas City, she worked at the United Film Company (The Disney Co.) from 1944-1947. Jackie met the love of her life, Joseph Firestone, in Kansas City and later married him on May 21, 1947. They resided in KCK through November, 1949 and then moved to Johnson County, Kansas the following year. Jackie and her husband Joe had two children, Marilyn Joyce and Marcy Anne Firestone. Jackie always noted that the best time of her life occurred with her children and family. After the children were grown, Jackie helped her husband with the family business, the Central Plumbing Supply Company. Jackie was PTA President of the Roland Park School (District P29), President of B’nai Brith Women’s Chapter at Ohev Sholom for two years, and President of the Congregation of Ohev Sholom Sisterhood for two years. Jackie remained a long standing member at Congregation Ohev Sholom for over 65 years. In addition, Jackie was an avid Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs and Jayhawk fan. She also enjoyed playing mah jongg with her friends. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Lillian Max; her brother, Phillip M. Max (1969); husband, Joseph Firestone (1996); and sisters-in-law: Frances Max and Betty Waldman (2006). She is survived her daughters: Joyce Firestone and Marcy (Larry) Brosten; and grandchildren: Adam Mathew Brosten and Cara Rachel Brosten. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Nanci (Michael) Myer, Ed (Enilda) Waldman and Susan Waldman, along with many grand nieces and nephews and their families.
