January 6, 1952 - July 24, 2021
Jana Rae Bronfman, D.O., passed away on July 24, 2021, at Nicks Healthcare in Plattsburg, Missouri. She never recovered from Covid and was in a coma for several days. Jana was born on January 6, 1952, to David and Rosalie (Blender) Bronfman of Kansas City, Kansas. Jana graduated from Wyandotte High School and Baker University. She completed her medical training at the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1978. After finishing an internship in Saginaw, Michigan she graduated from an Emergency Medicine Residency in Philadelphia. She was one of the first Osteopathic Residency training Emergency Medicine Physicians in the United States. On May 23, 1981, Jana married Eric Lindeman in a ceremony in the rose garden in Loose Park, Kansas City, Missouri. Jana was a lover of roses throughout her life. She designed and crafted jewelry that she often gave as gifts. In better days, Jana was an aspiring ballerina, artist and gymnast. She was a true animal lover. She even raised a pet sparrow. After her Emergency Medicine Residency, Jana went active duty at Scott Air Force Base, O’Fallon, Illinois, where she became the director of the Emergency Department. She was active in the Illinois Emergency Medicine Acute Cardiac Care training committee. She provided Advance Emergency Cardiac training for other physicians around the state and at the Air Force Base. She continued with the Air Force Reserves for another seven years. She obtained the rank of Major. After her tour with the Air Force, she joined a private Emergency Medicine Group in Kansas City, Missouri, working in a number of our hospital’s emergency departments. Jana and Eric lived in Platte County, Missouri. Jana was dedicated to her patients and would often follow up with them after getting off-duty, to make sure that they received the care that she believed they needed. She was so kind, generous, and loving. She gave all she could to help anyone. In 1992, Jana retired from medicine due to health issues. In 2012 she moved to assisted living due to those health issues, where she contracted Covid. Jana was preceded in death by her parents. Jana is survived by her husband of 39 years, sisters Malinda Schoeb (Kurt), Joy Griesser (Richard), and Gail Bunch (Howard), and four beloved nieces and nephews (Sarah, Grayson, Hannah, and Ross). We will miss her. Her family is most grateful for the loving care provided by Three Rivers Hospice, particularly Kathy, Debbie, Chelsea, Nadine and Lacy. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Jewish Family Services.
