Jean Marie Brockman Obituary (2007)

Jean Brockman, 100, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Friday, October 26, 2007 at Village Shalom. Funeral services will be 2:30 pm Sunday, October 28 at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Burial at Sheffield Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, Beth Shalom Synagogue, The Jewish Community Center or a charity of the donor’s choice. Mrs. Brockman was born September 28, 1907. She was a long time member of Beth Shalom Synagogue and its Sisterhood, Hadassah and the Jewish Community Center. She and her husband David were active in many community and philanthropic organizations and leave a legacy to which their family will strive to emulate. Mrs. Brockman was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, David S. Brockman, in 1999. She is survived by her twin children: Ruth and Herbert Halpern and Richard and Charlotte Brockman; grandchildren: Karen and Kevin Bailey, Andy and Cheryl Halpern, Steve and Stacy Halpern, Susie and Dr. Joel Carp, Marla Brockman and Dr. John Goldberg, Gayla Brockman and Marshall Pred and Brian and Jenn Brockman; along with 15 great-grandchildren and her brother: Lou and Lee Rogers. Jean was a loving and devoted caregiver to five generations of her family and will forever be remembered by those whom she loved. The family would like to express their sincere thanks for the excellent care Jean received from the staff of both Village Shalom and Menorah Medical Center.
