Linda Rae Cohn

December 10, 1951 - September 27, 2021

Linda Cohn, a resident of Dunwoody, Georgia passed away peacefully on September 27, 2021 surrounded by her loving husband and children. Linda was born in Kansas City on December 10, 1951, to Theodore Clutz and Thelma Clutz Magariel. She graduated Shawnee Mission East High School and earned a degree in Judaic Studies with honors from University of Missouri - Kansas City. Linda prided herself for being employed her entire life. As a teen, she lied about her age to get a job in the linen department of the Jones Store Company. Her family had financial challenges forcing Linda to enroll in community college and pay her own tuition, while many of her classmates attended out of state prestigious colleges. She was a seamstress at a very young age. She made her own clothes. She used that skill later in life to make special garments and accessories for her children and grandchildren. She and Marcia, her older sister, formed Bubbie’s Bundles and the two embroidered towels, blankets and clothing with Hebrew and English phrases and names. She was a teacher at the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, where she taught history. She loved genealogy and together with her son, Todd researched and created a multi-generational family tree. She also assisted others in tracing their family genealogy. She was a member of the Kansas City Chevra Kadisha, the Jewish Burial Society. Linda first met her husband Les years before when he picked her up for Hebrew School carpool. They were married in 1971 and recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. In 2009 Linda and Les moved to Boynton Beach FL where Linda obtained her real estate license and sold real estate. She loved dogs, kids and people. While in Boynton Beach she would walk dogs in the community mostly for enjoyment. She was always friendly to strangers. She would run out of the house and offer water to landscapers, trash collectors and repairmen. No one came near or into the house without them being offered a drink or hospitality. She was a loving, active, and engaging Bubby. She took a genuine interest in their hobbies, education and their lives. She was always ready and willing to read, sew, cook, build trains, and play with them. And they all adored her. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Laurence Clootz and her grandson Koppie Cohn. She is survived by her husband, Les of Dunwoody, GA, her three children: Amy Jacobson of Boynton Beach, FL, Todd (Naomi) Cohn – Boca Raton, FL, and Becca (Rabbi Meir) Wexler – Dunwoody, GA, a sister, Marcia (Dr. Arnold) Tropp, and grandchildren Eliezer Cohn, Leora Cohn, Eitan Jacobson, Tamar Cohn and Sophie Wexler. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 30, 2021 graveside at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Southern NCSY, the charity of your choice or please do a mitzvah in her name.
