Marlene Gasser, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and friend passed away on November 21, 2010 with her loved ones by her side. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday November 23rd at the Louis Memorial Chapel – 6830 Troost Ave. Burial following at Mount Carmel Cemetery at 5529 Ditzler, Raytown, Missouri 64133. Marlene was born April 28th, 1936 in Kansas City, MO to Joseph and Elizabeth Rubin where she lived most of her life. She attended Paseo High School and went to Oklahoma University where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority. She began working at a law firm as a secretary and received her Paralegal certificate while doing so. While working as a paralegal Marlene earned her Masters Degree in Social Work. Subsequently, she counseled many families in crisis over the next several years and recently retired from Comprehensive Mental Health Center. Marlene was an avid reader and belonged to a book club for many years. She loved to play Mahjong and spend time with her children and grandchildren. Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Max Gasser; her children: Kevin and Lisa Gasser, Jonathan and Idala Gasser; grandchildren: William, Riley, Austen and Heath. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Elizabeth, brothers: Bernard and Charles Rubin; son, James Gasser and grandson, Dakota. The family would like to thank the staff at Kansas City Hospice for their comfort, guidance, support, and care. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Marlene’s honor to the Kansas City Hospice, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64145 or the American Cancer Society 1100 Pennsylvania Ave, Kansas City, MO 64105.
