Max Levine

December 15, 1921 - October 10, 2011

Max Levine, 89, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Monday, October 10, 2011 at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa. Graveside services will be at 11:00am Wednesday, October 12, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Vitas Hospice, 10000 W. 75th St., Suite 240, Lenexa, KS 66204 or Beth Shalom Synagogue. Mr. Levine was born in Germany, moved to Italy, then at age 31, came to the Kansas City area. He worked for Milgrams as a meat cutter. Max and his wife Arlene, then purchased the Roxbury Market at 32nd & Main. They operated several grocery stores over the years until the 1980’s. Mr. Levine was a hard working family man who took excellent care of Arlene when she was ill. He loved his family and also his “grocery” family, who he felt especially close to over the many years he was in business. Mr. Levine was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Arlene Levine, who passed away in 2009. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Sam and Danielle Levine and David and Toby Levine, all of Overland Park, KS; daughters and sons-in-law: Idelle Beth and Robert Williams, Independence, MO and Debbie and Ray Brill, Shawnee Mission, KS; grandchildren: Rachael Williams, Alexis Levine, Brian Levine, Micah Levine, Shira Levine, Stuart Brill and Perry Brill. The family would like to thank the staff at Delmar Gardens and at Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care.
