Pauline Hanick Bovos, 99, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014. Services will be at 1:30pm Monday, May 12, in the Yukon Chapel at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hadassah, c/o Marian Kaplan, 3909 W. 101st Terrace, Overland Park, KS 66207 or Beth Shalom Synagogue, 14200 Lamar, Overland Park, KS 66223. Pauline was born August 31, 1914, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Benjamin and Eva (Lieberman) Hanick, the youngest of 11 children, and was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Manuel High School She met her husband, Edward, at a JCC dance in 1938. After raising their children, she worked at Kasual Kids. Pauline was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom; life member of Hadassah, past President of Kansas City Women’s ORT, was a Worthy Matron of Order of the Eastern Star and volunteered at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She loved to garden, especially flowers and tomato’s, was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, baking and bowling. Pauline had holidays at her house so she could cook and entertain. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters: her husband, Edward I. Bovos, and her son, Bruce R. Bovos Pauline is survived by her daughter: Charyl E. Rubin, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Kimber L. Nussbaum, Jordan M. Nussbaum, Bryant F. and Denise Rubin, Cathy R. and Tracey Swalley, Russell C. Rubin; great-grandchildren: Gavin Brivik, ENS Elizabeth Rubin, Hannah Rubin and Alex Brivik. Nieces and nephews also survive.
