Phyllis Wainstock

Phyllis Wainstock, 81, of Overland Park, passed away Saturday March 23, 2013 at Northridge Hospital (Calif). Graveside services will be held Friday March 29 at 2:00pm at Sheffield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Beth Shalom Synagogue, 14200 Lamar Ave., Overland Park, KS. 66223 or The Food Pantry at Temple Ramat Zion, 17655 Devonshire St., Northridge, CA 91325. Born on November 23, 1931, Phyllis Dubin grew up in Kansas City, KS. After graduating Wyandotte High School, Phyllis enrolled at UMKC studying Pharmacy. In 1953, at the urging of a friend, Phyllis was introduced to Himie Wainstock. On June 3, 1953 Phyllis and Himie were married and that union lasted 58 years until Himie's death in 2011. Phyllis and Himie owned and operated two retail hobby shops and later Phyllis would open her own business. She is preceded in death by parents: Herman and Esther (Millstein) Dubin; sister: Sandra Birnbaum; husband: Himie Wainstock. Phyllis is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David and Gail Wainstock, Olathe; daughter and son in law Stephanie and Alan Osadchey, Northridge, Ca.; sister Natalie Nearenberg, Overland Park and grandchildren Marc and Nathan Osadchey, Leah and Bailey Wainstock.
