Phyllis Fay Rogoff Obituary (1925 - 2011)

Phyllis Fay Rogoff, 85, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be at 2:30pm Thursday, August 25, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO. Burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah or Village Shalom. Mrs. Rogoff was born in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Nathan and Rose Fishman. She was a lifelong area resdent, graduating from Paseo High School. Mrs. Rogoff helped her husband Phillip, until 1972, when her children were older, in the family metal and paper recycling business. After 1972 she went to work in the Pediatric Department at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she became an executive secretary to the Chairman of the Pediatric Department. She then retired in 1989. She was a member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah and was a former member of Congregation Ohev Sholom. Mrs. Rogoff enjoyed traveling and visiting family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor, loved to read and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Mrs. Rogoff was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara Cohn. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Phillip Rogoff, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law: Gary and Barbara Rogoff, Overland Park, KS; Richard and Doris Rogoff, Chicago, IL; daughter: Janice Kaufmann, Carmel, IN; brother-in-law: Sanford Cohn, Leawood, KS; sister-in-law: Marcia Temple, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Jason Kaufmann, Nicole Kaufmann and Rebecca Rogoff; great-grandchildren: Jessica Kaufmann and Brennan Kaufmann. Mrs. Rogoff will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
