Rosalie (Margolin) Kars, 95, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at Menorah Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Tuesday, May 29, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64131 with burial to follow at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Rose Family Birthday Fund at Village Shalom, 5500 W. 123rd St., Overland Park, KS 66209. Rosalie was born in Kansas City, the daughter of Jacob and Rebecca (Cohn) Margolin, and was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Central High School, after which she met the love of her life, Joseph Kars, and they were married for 64 wonderful years. She lived most of her life in Kansas City until moving to Las Vegas for retirement. They then returned to live again in Kansas City in 1998. Rosalie was a lifelong member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and its sisterhood, of which she was past president. She was also a life member of Hadassah, member of B’nai B’rith Women, the Menorah Medical Center Auxiliary and the Meadowbrook Country Club. Rosalie loved to play bridge, tennis and golf. She is the last surviving member of the original Nautilus Sorority. Rosalie was a great cook. Her specialty was her baking of the families favorites. Life was her focus. She loved all of life’s activities and being with family and friends who greatly loved her and will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Kars in 2002; her two brothers, Abe and Nate Margolin and her one sister, Dena Levine. Rosalie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth and Jesslynn Kars, Lincoln, CA; daughter and son-in-law: Kitty and Hal Novicoff, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Michael Novicoff (Jodi), Todd Novicoff (Emily), Mindi Squire (Jamie), Tarynn Kars, Taylor Kars and Molly Kars; great-grandchildren: Jake, Zachary, Ariana, Mandy, Mallory, Sammi Jo and Drew. The family would like to thank Village Shalom for their kindness and love they showed our mom “Mema”.
