Rose Lesky Stolowy, 101, was born April 28, 1911 and passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Village Shalom. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64131 with burial to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Rose and Sol Stolowy Scholarship Fund at Beth Shalom Synagogue, 14200 Lamar Ave., Overland Park, KS 66223. Rose came to Kansas City at the age of 9. She attended Central High School and Kansas City Junior College. She was the owner of the Mid-Town Fabric Shop, 39th & Troost, from 1944-1958. In 1982 she took a course in accounting so that she could do the books for here husband’s new business, S & R Tailoring. Rose was a volunteer at the front desk for the Auxiliary of Menorah Medical Center for 35 years. She was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom and its Sisterhood and the Jewish Community Center. Rose was a Life member of the National Council of Jewish Women, Menorah Medical Center Auxiliary, Brandeis University Women, Hadassah, B’nai B’rith Women and the Jewish Community Archives of Greater Kansas City. She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Sol Stolowy and a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley S. and Albert Goller. Rose is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Laurel S. and Michael Rogovein; a brother and sister-in-law: J. Louis and Betty Lesky; six grandchildren: Howard and Shoshanah Goller, Ethan and Rona Goller, Sam and Roberta Goller, Sara and Chris Burke, Matthew Rogovein and Daniel Rogovein and twelve great-grandchildren.
