June 28, 1920 - May 17, 2015
Ruth Ann Erlich, 94, passed away quietly Sunday, May 17, 2015 at her daughter’s home. Previously she was a long-time resident of Village Shalom; where she lived in the Alzheimer’s unit for nearly 8 years. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 18th at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests strong support of the Alzheimer’s Association and related foundations in tribute to her memory. She was born in Muskogee, OK as the only child of Sam and Golda Uman; moving to St Louis as a young child. She attended the University of Missouri in Columbia before WW II. In 1943 she married Bernard Erlich, the love of her life, during his leave from the Army where he was based in Hawaii. They were married and inseparable for 67 years until his death in 2010. The family moved to the Kansas City area in 1958 where she remained for the rest of her life; but for about 20 years of winters in Pompano Beach FL. She was a lady of style and elegance and the consummate homemaker. In addition, she volunteered at Menorah and Baptist Medical Centers for many years and was a member of several Jewish ladies’ organizations. A lover of music, voice and theatre she was also actively involved at Meadowbrook Country Club for most of her adult life; where she especially enjoyed Pan and Mah Jong with her large group of friends. Mrs. Erlich, a supremely devoted Wife and Mother, was especially happy when spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernie. She is survived by her son, Gary Erlich and his (partner/girlfriend) Jeani Buchanan of San Diego; daughter, Karyn (Jeffrey) Weiner; grandchildren, Cory (Jaymie) Weiner and Alyson Weiner and great-grandchildren Madison Blair and Brady Maxwell Weiner.
