Stanley M. Goodman Obituary (1951 - 2012)

Stanley Mark Goodman, 60, passed away suddenly March 21, 2012. Stan was born on May 7, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School and The University of Kansas, with a B.A. in Education. Stan went on to enjoy a career as a business owner, operating The Sidney Ginsburg Company, Stan’s Sewing Supplies, and I. Goodman Custom Tailoring, a business owned by his family for over 57 years. Stan married his wife, Janey in 1981. He had a passion for traveling, gardening, and barbeque, and was a devoted fan of the Kansas Jayhawks. He was a lifelong member of The Jewish Community Center and a member of Congregation Beth Shalom for over thirty years. He was also an active volunteer with the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Isadore and Hanka Goodman, his sister, Louisa Levin, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sidney and Rosalind Ginsburg. He is survived by his wife, Janey; his daughter and son-in-law, Laura Goodman Mitchell and Joshua Mitchell of Washington, D.C.; son, Brian, of Overland Park; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Sharon and Jim Greenwood, Ellen and Larry Polsky, Byron and Gerri Lyn Ginsburg, and Myles Levin; and many adored extended family members. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education, Congregation Beth Shalom’s Sidney Ginsburg Fund, or the charity of one’s choice. Funeral services will be at 10am Sunday, March 25 at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue, with burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery to follow
