Timothy Jon Peavler (Peav), 48, Overland Park, died November 16, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 20th, at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, 12320 Nall Ave., Overland Park. The family will be receiving friends at noon with the service commencing at 1:00 pm, followed by burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Trey Peavler’s Education Fund. Checks can be made payable to Susan Peavler, P.O. Box 23202, Overland Park, KS 66283. The family also wishes to thank Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care’s Care Partner Estella Wallace for her gentle and caring ways with which she is blessed. Peav was born March 7, 1967, in Muskogee, OK and raised in Waverly, KS, where he graduated from high school in 1985. An avid sportsman, he played varsity football, golf, and tennis at three colleges before receiving a B.A. in Communications from Ottawa University in 1992. He was a longtime resident of Ottawa and Spring Hill before moving to Overland Park. He married Susan Gilgus in 2004 and was a wonderful father to two children, Trey and Tori. Tim’s competitive spirit fueled his success at many endeavors including his career. After a number of years as an award-winning salesman, he formed his own insurance agency, Peavler & Associates. He loved sports, fishing, playing poker, following politics and most of all spending time with the people he loved. His love and respect for his wife Susan was unmatched. His devotion and love for Trey and Tori was boundless. Though outspoken he was a kind, generous man who had a gift for bringing people together into a circle of friends such as few people have. His sense of humor, his loyalty, his giving spirit, and his love for his friends and family are his legacy to all who knew him. Tim is preceded in death by his daughter Tori. He is survived by his wife Susan and son Trey of the home; father Tom Peavler and wife Debbie of Waverly, KS; his mother Nancy Peavler-Barton and husband Jeff Barton of Ardmore, OK; brother Tom Peavler of Independence, MO; sister Tricia Peavler of Alexandria, VA; father-in-law and mother-in-law Zolie and Doris Gilgus; sisters-in-law Stephanie Gatewood (Richard) and Sherry Worth (David), 10 nieces and nephews; and an extensive network of beloved friends, as well as many children who considered him a surrogate uncle and mentor.
